Joseph

Hey everyone!

Get your bibles out, or use the bible app on your mobile device. We are going to be focusing on the story of Joseph. I am going to be referencing Genesis chapters 37, 39 - 41. There is so many different aspects of Joseph's story but I am only going to talk about a few of them that spoke to me this past week. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts and lessons you have learned. You can read his full story from Genesis 30-50. It's quite the rollercoaster ride.

We can learn so many things from the story of Joseph.

Genesis 37:  God gave Joseph several dreams; he would then share them with his brothers and family. They were not to thrilled about the imagery of his dreams. God can and will give us a dream. We will share it with others. However, I also think it is okay to not share your dream with others while its still in the beginning phases(this is not part of the story -just my opinion on life). But they may not understand or they may get out right upset. This can be very discouraging and make you want to give up. But don't let go of that dream. It will come to fruition.

Later in Genesis 27: Joseph's own brother sold him because they were so annoyed by him and his dreams and in my opinion they probably were annoyed that he got a special coat from their dad but the rest of them didn't. Sometimes even our family may not understand the path God has us on and will turn against us. Its painful but remember God has a plan.

Genesis 39: We can work hard, do our best, and be faithful. But the devil or someone will try to frame us. We may end up in a bad spot as a result of that person. But don't be discouraged. Sometimes in our lowest points God is building our testimony.

Genesis 40-41: It may take years but God's plan (that dream from long ago) comes to fruition. And sometimes the same people who doubted in the past are the very same people you are blessing because you obeyed and waited on God.

Being obedient and waiting on God is not easy. You will have trials and just long periods of what seems like God has forgotten you... but don't give into that line of thinking. Keep the faith. Keep praying. God has not and cannot fail. So you will get there by His grace.

Stay encouraged and don't lose hope,
Simple Me..

Thought for today: February 27, 2018

God may not always give you the wisdom to solve your own problem. But you can always be assured that Jesus is strong enough to handle it, compassionate enough to feel it, loving enough to care for it, wise enough to deal with it.

Thought of the Day, January 13, 2016

My friend sent this to me a few days ago but I am just now able to sit down and post it to the blog. I hope you find some encouragement in this.

Exodus 6:12 (NIV)“But Moses said to the Lord, ‘If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips.’”
I relate so much to Moses. I too am hesitant to step up to an assignment where I doubt my effectiveness.
Moses already felt like he was failing at the smaller assignment of getting the Israelites to listen to him. So, he was understandably hesitant to go and speak to the intimidating powerful leader, Pharaoh.
However, we must make note of a crucial fact in God’s instruction to Moses. He simply told Moses to go tell Pharaoh to “let the Israelites go out of his country,” (Exodus 6:11b). That’s all Moses was responsible to accomplish. He wasn’t responsible for anything but the delivery of the message.
The resistant way Moses responds lets me know he misunderstood his assignment. Moses thought he was to bring enough power in his words to convince Pharaoh. And since his words lacked power before, it’s no wonder he thought this was a terrible strategy.
But God never told Moses to bring the power.
Moses was simply told to bring the words.
Moses’ job was to be obedient to God. God’s job was everything else.
God would bring the power. God would bring the strategy. God would bring all the plans together. And God would certainly bring the victory.
God already assured Moses of this in Exodus 6:1, “… Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go …”
He wasn’t asking Moses to play every part. Moses was only supposed to play his part. And the same is true for you and me. What assignment has God put before you today? Feel encouraged that your job is simply to be obedient to God. God will handle everything else ~ First5.org

Thought for the day: September 4th, 2015

In my life on every aspect and level I am learning and trying to hand it all over to God. Part of this process at least for me is starting my day with Him. So when I saw these to photos on Pinterest I had to take time to post it on my blog and share it with everyone. One of my personal goals in life is to start and end each day with God. As well as, giving Him complete control of everything in my life.

Thought for the day: May 20, 2015

I read the following this morning in my devotional book  "Minute devotions for women"... be encouraged...

Dark Nights

No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Joshua 1:5

Do you have trouble sleeping when something is weighing on your mind? Do you find yourself pacing the floor half the night, unable to quiet your racing mind? If so, you know how dark the night gets just before dawn. In that quiet dark you can feel so alone with your problems.

Just as God promised to be with Joshua for all the days of his life, He is with you. He promises to never leave you or forsake you. Even if at this moment you can't sense His presence, be assured that God is with you. He knows what you're going through and He cares.

Thought for the day: March 10, 2015

****I read this somewhere. I don't remember where but I copied it into an email so it must have been online somewhere. Either way, I thought it was good food for thought.

According To Jesus We Have One Role

What started out as a one week challenge to my church, has turned into nine weeks of daily reading and living through the lens of Jesus’ words in John 15. I don’t know how many messages I’ve heard on this passage, but Jesus has captured my attention enough to the point of me working and living it out.
“I am the Vine (Jesus), and my Father is the Gardener…”Stop right there. Why have I lived my life thinking that I was the gardener, thinking it was my job to plant seeds, water, grow fruit and prune myself and others? I thought my job was to protect the plant, provide all its nutrients, etc.
What would it look like for God the Father to be the Gardener in our lives? What if we are simply to be branches attached to Jesus the Vine in the greater Garden of the Father? I think the “Kingdom of God” could be synonymous with the “Garden of God.”
“…Every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful…with fruit that lasts.” Have you ever seen a rose bush that has been properly pruned? It looks bare, naked, beat up and humbled. Yet without this pruning, the plant will not bear much fruit. It will eventually cease to be effective, hence cut off from the vine. What if the Gardener’s pruning is motivated out of a love for His Vine and its branches? Have you been pruned lately? What if pruning were a gift, not necessarily comfortable, but a gift?
I double dog dare you to try this: Read the first half of John 15 every day this week. Try not to learn too much, but just start asking questions and poking holes, such as: What is fruit? What does remaining look like? What’s my role?
Simply BE A BRANCH attached to the Vine (Jesus) trusting the wisdom of the Gardener (The Father)!

Thought for the Day: December 17, 2014

In my devotional written by Joyce Meyer I read this sentence and have deemed it the thought for today.

"Your worst day with God is better than your best day without Him."

Thought of the day: July 19, 2014

Jacob looked at Joseph and saw a good son! The tenbrothers looked at Joseph and saw a useless dreamer! The travellers looked at Joseph and saw a slave!! Potiphar looked at Joseph and saw a fine servant!! Potiphar's wife looked at Joseph and saw a potential boyfriend! The prison officers saw in Joseph a prisoner! How wrong were all of them!

God looked at Joseph and saw  a Prime Minister of Egypt in waiting!! Don't be discouraged by what people see in you!! Be encouraged by what God sees in you!!

Never underrate the person next to you because you never know what the Lord has deposited in that person. Your maid may be a Chief Executive Officer in waiting for a company which shall employ your child. Your garden-boy may be a president in waiting. (Remember David got the anointing of becoming a King while he was a simple child herding sheep. Esther was a simple orphaned girl yet she was a Queen in waiting).

Let's share God's love and make the world a better place to live.
