Birthday 2015

I had plans to celebrate my birthday every day for the month of July. However, life had different plans. My truck unexpectedly (at least to me) needed 4 new tires. So $630 dollars later, I have new tires. As a result, my plans for my birthday had to change. But I did end up with two cakes....The second cake has 31 candles :) I can't believe I am 31.

Two new things:

Today I made my first green juice ever....
Sweet Lettuce Smoothie
This smoothie recipe was in the recipe book that came with my Vitamix. Being that this was my first green drink ever, it took me a moment to get used to the taste. It was surprisingly very sweet and I didn't add any sugar lol. My goal for the last few weeks have been to drink something healthy after my workout. It is my way of not eating all the calories I just worked off. I have a horrible habit of eating junk food after I work out. I have found that if I make a smoothie or some time of fruit/vegetable juice I don't go for the junk food. I am hoping that I continue on this new journey that these juices and smoothies will become a favorite for my tastebuds.

The other thing new in today's happenings was that I received this..
devotional and card
from my friend Jennifer. Isn't that so sweet of her? It is my birthday gift from her. I love it and her..Thanks Jennifer :)

Day 32-Our last day

It's Kayla's birthday (stateside)..Happy Birthday!!! She got a free pizza from Papa Johns. It was a cheese pizza with jalepenos and black olives. Gotta love Papa Johns.

I am so glad we had this month journey together. It was a blast. 30's is off to a great start. I am looking forward to what God has in store for us.

Day 31--Kayla's Birthday!!

Today is Kayla's birthday (at least on Guam). For our celebration today, we opened the box she sent me over Skype. It was a lot of fun. I also baked her a lemon cake....

Day 30

I will have to get back to you on Kayla. She was however, my thunder buddy while we had power.

As for me, it has been an interesting day. We, here on Guam and neighboring islands experienced the wrath of Typhoon Halong. She came with such force and left her cousin Tropical Storm Halong to keep us company for a few more hours. Power get going in and out all day. The wind and the rain were no joke. But thank God and His angels we are all safe. So this is what I did today to pass the storm and celebrate our birthdays. I had some quality time with Jesus--so needed and refreshing.  I spoke to my thunder buddy (see beginning of this post) and my other best friend Jennifer. We were able to catch up even more. Despite all the rain and crazy winds, I had a great day thanks to Kayla and Jennifer and lots of fun activities.

Blue and Purple streamers from Mickey in honor of our favorite colors :)

Yellow cake with Chocolate icing from Mickey :)

Happy Birthday Kayla!!! 2 more hours and its officially your birthday here on Guam!!!

I am colorful :)

Day 29

Kayla had this amazing treat....
such a great combo!!!
Today, I helped a neighbor replace her screen for her ipad. It was quite the adventure. It took us almost 4 hours to do it. Haha, we are such amateurs.  But for my birthday celebration I made myself a loaf of homemade apple cinnamon bread..it smells so good. I can't wait to taste it. I also got my package from my parents that they sent me for my birthday. It had 2 shirt and a pair of shorts. :)

Day 28

Kayla and I spoke for most of the day..I love days like that. She seriously brings joy to my life. Today the things that made me happy and laugh were the simple things in life. In the middle of one of our phone conversations her boob muted the phone (she had placed it there so she could search for something in her closet)..we laughed so hard. I also made an oatmeal milkshake to celebrate our birthdays. It was quite yummy. Kayla used a new mug..
Isn't a pretty mug? I think it describes her pretty well. She is definitely ambitious and kindhearted.

Day 27

The month is almost over. We have a few more days. Can you believe it?  Kayla mailed out my gift today and added to her stamp collection We are hoping and praying that it gets here in time for her birthday. Will you pray with us that it gets here in time? Thanks :)

As for me, today was a really rainy day. It rained ALL day!. Yoda, decided that he wanted to take tour of base and was missing for a little over 20 minutes. Tried to find him but couldn't, he eventually made his way back home. When he got to the door, he looked at me as if to say "hey that was fun, can we do that again?" Oh this dog, I need my husband to come back home. Is this deployment ever going to end? Anyway, I digress. Today's celebration was skyping my friend Jennifer. She and I were neighbors at our husband's last duty station. I haven't seen her since we moved to Guam and she moved to another part of the United States. We catch up every few weeks when our schedules permit and today I was able to talk with her for a bit. I also was Kayla thunder buddy. I really love these two girls. They seriously helped me get through my day today.

Day 26

Kayla got a gift card to starbucks...and had this lovely treat...
As for me I got to spend quality with my best friend. We were able to have a great conversation and even spend some time with God together. Seriously warms my heart.

Day 25

It was a simple day on my end. Kayla received a cool gift from a friend. Its the book the Shack in audio form. We both think that is an amazing gift. If you haven't read that book, I highly recommend it.. As for me, my celebration was being able to talk to my husband for an extended amount of time. I love the simple blessings in life.

for breakfast and then spent the day in a spirit of thankfulness and gratitude. I went to the Guam 70th Liberation Day Parade (pictures to come soon)

Day 20: My birthday part 2

Kayla went to this restaurant called Paquime and had barbacos tacos. She said it was yummy.
It looks yummy. She also opened her birthday present from me...That was fun  and exciting.

As for me, I babysat again today. But I also went to a friends house for a group hangout. It was a lot of fun. I met new friends and had great conversations. I also experienced a few new things--well its was all different flavored smoothies/ice cream. Great stuff. I will be recreating these recipes at some point.

Berry mix ice cream

Citrus blend smoothie

pineapple mango colada smoothie
Turning 30 was a great experience and I am truly blessed. Being 30 is off to a great start..I hope this year is full of great adventures and many more blessings.

Day 19: My birthday part 1

Today is my birthday--Guam time so this will be part 1 of my birthday lol..

Kayla had a chocolate chip cookie from Strarbucks, and we spent about 3 hours on skype. It was amazing. :) It has been a great day. I went to church. I spoke to my parents and brother on my way to church. After church, I also skyped my other best friend and god-daughter. I miss them so much. Google wished me a happy birthday. My neighbor made me cupcakes and gave me a pretty bowl and green turtle. I finally made homemade kettle corn popcorn..it was soooo yummy. Oh and I saw a baby Pumba--totally awesome...see the pics below to capture my birthday part 1.

Day 17

Kayla spent time with her family today. Her theme this week is "quality time". Today, I went to a bible study group and it was really good. It was much needed.

Day 16

Kayla and I didn't talk much again today...However, she spent time with a very good friend that she hasn't seen in awhile. Love that she was able to catch up with great friends. Today, my neighbor treated me to donuts. They were so yummy .Then this evening I did Fire 30 by Turbo Fire---it was so intense but I loved it. (I worked off the 6 donuts I ate earlier). And then I drank a glass and a half of another vitamix juice combo. This time I tried the spinach, purple cabbage, strawberries, grapes, and canary melon. It wasn't as sweet but it was still good.
