Books of 2025

Hey There!

I know some of you look forward to my list of books. I seriously, can't believe we are in September and I am just now getting to this. Unfortunately, this year has been different and I have not been able to get in as much reading as I would like. But as I tell all of you, I am giving myself grace and am extremely grateful for the rare moments that I do get to read.

With that being said, here is my list for this year. I will add to it if I get to read any more books in the last few months of 2025.  Leave me a comment with the books you have read or enjoyed this year.

Happy Reading,
Simply Me

  • The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, Jules Feiffer and Maurice Sendak
  • The Stars of New Chelteham by Chautona Havig
  • Most Wonderful Time by Toni Shiloh
  • Jesus & Justice by Al Houghton, Jayne Houghton
  • Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan to Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer by Priscilla Shirer

Laundry - Sheets

Hey there!

I know its been a long time since we have had a chance to chat. I hope you are doing well. How has 2025 been treating you?

Well, I won't keep you long today. I just had a question for you. Do you know how to fold fitted sheets? I do, I love it. Popeye tells me its sorcery -- because I am able to get it all folded up and tucked into each other. See pictures below. Anyway, do you agree with Popeye or are you like me and get such satisfaction of having your sheets folded just right?

I hope to catch up with you later and we can share about how this year has been. Till then, I hope you remember to take care, give yourself grace, and keep the faith.

Always,
Simply Me

Bowties for Luigi

Hello everyone,

It has been quite a while since I last popped in with a post. How are you all doing? A lot is going on over here but that is for another update at some point down the road. In the meantime here is a quick update on my boy Luigi.

Luigi and I had training with a professional dog trainer for a few months. We worked on some behaviors and working through his social anxiety. Things have gotten a lot better and he has come a long way. There is still room for some growth but I am proud of him for how far he has come.

Today, his pack of bowties that I ordered got delivered. They are so adorable. I just can't stand it. Take a look...

Don't you think they are so cute? Well, Popeye is not a fan and thinks that Luigi is not going to like it. He tried to tell Luigi to run and hide before I could get to him.. Silly husband.

Needless to say, I did not listen to Popeye in this case...I called Luigi and he happily sat for me to put his bowtie on... Check out the handsome fellow...

I think Luigi is quite happy with his bowties. He said he is going to try and match the flowers that I wear in my hair or the color of my outfit depending on what color I am wearing. What a good boy.

Well, thanks for tuning into another adventure with Luigi.  Till next time, take care and leave me a comment: do you dress up your pets? Or do you think that is a crazy concept?

Yours Truly,
Simply Me

PS: Popeye won't let me get bows or dresses for Mara Jade -- he said I cannot torture his dog lol. While these are both our dogs: Mara Jade has claimed Popeye as her human and Luigi has claimed me as his. SO if I do any other type of shenanigans clothing wise it will be on Luigi.

In honor of Black History Month: I present to you--- Black owned businesses!!

This photo is from https://www.mariannyc.com/

Hello everyone!

Are you interested in some black owned business? Here are three that you can reach out and show some support and enjoy some awesome products.

Bakery: Holly's Bundt Cakes

If you are looking for an alternative to the infamous Nothing Bundt Cakes...look no further. Holly's Bundt Cakes are so delicious. She is always adding to her menu. Her cakes will make your tummy scream for joy. Not only is this a black own company but it is also veteran owned.  My favorite is her coconut cake and her gluten free red velvet. If you are gluten free--fear not, she will be adding more soon.

Bookstore: Turning Page Bookshop

One of the few owned and operated black own bookstores. Its a true gem. They ship anywhere in the USA. If you are looking for a book and its not on their website, no need to fear; they usually can find it and get it to you. Every book they have recommended to me has been amazing. They have a talent on suggesting great books.

Natural Products: Kissed By A Bee Organics

If you are looking for full body coverage...look no further. All her products are locally sourced, and handmade with great quality products. My favorite is her body wash, and her deodorant. I have been using both for years and will never go back to store bought.

Organization: Sole Organizer, LLC

If you are needing help organizing your life, house, office, closet, you name it. This is the business for you. She is budget friendly and has amazing tips that will change your life in any area that you need organizing.

I hope you all check out these three small black owned business and show some support.

Be blessed,
Simply Me
